For Christmas this year, Mr Amey and his tutor group decided to each donate some money to buy goats via Oxfam for people in countries that are living below the poverty line. Altogether, the group managed to raise over £100 to spend on buying the goats, which meant they were able to get four.
Goats are important to people living below the poverty line as they allow them to practise subsistence farming methods. Eventually, the families can breed their goat and sell the offspring on to help raise money for the family. Oxfam helps families in Afghanistan by providing them with the goats provided by donations, as well as giving them training to help with their farms.
